Ollie’s Nutritional Advice

Food provides the energy and nutrients you need to be healthy. Nutrients include proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and water.
Learning to eat nutritiously is not hard. The key is to:

Eat a variety of foods, including vegetables, fruits and whole-grain products.

Eat lean meats, poultry, fish, beans and low-fat dairy products.

Drink lots of water.

Go easy on the salt, sugar, alcohol, saturated fat and trans fat.

Saturated fats are usually fats that come from animals. Look for trans fat on the labels of processed foods, margarines and shortenings.

When working in the gym people have often approached me asking what they need to do to lose weight and be lean, firstly you need to sustain a calorie deficit on a daily basis. So basically a calorie deficit occurs when you consume fewer calories then your body expands. A calorie deficit of 500 calories per day is effective for health and sustainable weight loss, and is unlikely to have significant effects on hunger or energy levels. The best way to expand calories and burn fat is to exercise, but remember you have to exercise SMART because fat burns quicker on muscle. You cant out train a bad diet!!

My average day looks a bit like this:

Breakfast

One bowl of weetabix with semi skimmed milk.

Lunch

2/3 fruit a day for a midday snack

Dinner

I make sure to have a full plate of fresh healthy food at dinner time, cutting out fried and fatty food.
